Interleukin-22(IL-22),alsoknownasIL-10relatedTcell-derived-induciblefactor(ILTIF)wasinitiallyidentifiedasageneinducedbyIL-9inmouseTcellsandmastcells.IL-22hasbeenshowntoactivateSTAT1andSTAT3inseveralhepatomacelllinesandupregulatetheproductionofacutephaseproteins.IL-22isproducedbynormalTcellsuponanti-CD3stimulationinhumans.MouseIL-22expressionisalsoinducedinvariousorgansuponlipopolysaccharideinjection,suggestingthatIL-22maybeinvolvedininflammatoryresponses.ThefunctionalIL-22receptorcomplexconsistsoftworeceptorsubunits,IL-22R(CRF29)andIL-10Rβ(CRF24),belongingtotheclassIIcytokinereceptorfamily.
