Voriconazole (VFEND) is a triazole antifungal medication that is generally used to treat serious, invasive fungal infections. It is used to treat invasive fungal infections that are generally seen in patients who are immunocompromised. These include invasive candidiasis, invasive aspergillosis, and emerging fungal infections. Voriconzole shows anti-Candida albicans activity at 0.007-8 micrograms/mL is assays. Voriconzole is a potent cytochrome P450 inhibitor with IC50's in the low to mid micromolar range. Voriconazole shows potent antitrypanosomal activity (IC50=95.6nM) against amastigote stage of Trypanosoma cruzi infected in mouse NIH/3T3 cells.
