Miglitol(Glyset)isanoralanti-diabeticdrugthatactsbyinhibitingthebreakdownofcomplexcarbohydratesintoglucose.Itisprimarilyusedindiabetesmellitustype2forestablishinggreaterglycemiccontrolbypreventingthedigestionofcarbohydrates(suchasdisaccharides,oligosaccharides,andpolysaccharides)intomonosaccharideswhichcanbeabsorbedbythebody.Miglitolinhibitsglycosidehydrolaseenzymescalledα-glucosidases.
