Thep90ribosomalS6kinases(RSKs)compriseafamilyofserine/threon-inekinasesthatlieattheterminusoftheERKpathway.Inhumans,theRSKfamilyconsistsoffourisoforms(RSK1to-4).RSKfamilymembersareunusualamongserine/threoninekinasesinthattheycontaintwodistinctkinasedomains,bothofwhicharecatalyticallyfunctional.Theseskinasedimainsareactivatedinasequentialmannerbyaseriesofphosphorylations.RSKregulatesgeneexpressionviaassociationandphosphor-ylationoftranscriptionalregulatorsinclud-ingc-Fos,estrogenreceptor,NFκB/IκBα,cAMP-responseelement-bindingprotein(CREB).Serine/threoninekinasethatmayplayaroleinmediatingthegrowth-factorandstressinducedactivationofthetranscriptionfactorCREB.
