LYVE-1hasbeenidentifiedasamajorreceptorforHA(extracellularmatrixglycosaminoglycanhyaluronan)onthelymphvesselwall.LikeCD44,theLYVE-1moleculebindsbothsolubleandimmobilizedHA.However,unlikeCD44,theLYVE-1moleculecolocalizeswithHAontheluminalfaceofthelymphvesselwallandiscompletelyabsentfrombloodvessels.Hence,LYVE-1isthefirstlymph-specificHAreceptortobecharacterizedandisauniquelypowerfulMarkerforlymphvesselsthemselves.
