Glutathioneperoxidase3(GPX3;GSHPX3)isaselenium-dependentextracellularenzyme,protectingcellsandenzymesfromoxidativedamagebycatalyzingthereductionofhydrogenperoxide,lipidperoxidesandorganichydroperoxides.GPX3isinvolvedininflammatoryboweldisease,inasthmaandindiabetes.TheactivityofGPX3issignificantlyreducedintheplasmaandtissueofcancerpatients.Recently,GPX3wassuggestedtoserveasamolecularMarkerforthediagnosisofclearcelltypeovarianadenocarcinoma.
